Are you looking for the best Hotel in Mallorca in Winter? Here is my favorite: The Hotel Playa Golf in Playa de Palma.
I want you to know that I did not get paid nor stayed for free at the Hotel Playa Golf. During both my stays last winter, I was just very happy with my booking choice that I paid for myself and the value for money I received.
You will find here my honest review, including some points I did not like and why I would never book my favorite Mallorca winter hotel during the busy summer season.

Reasons to book the Hotel Playa Golf in winter
Location
One of the reasons I booked the Hotel Playa Golf for my winter vacation in Mallorca was the location. The 4-star hotel is located right on the promenade of Playa de Palma, on the notorious “Balneario 6”.
A small gate from the pool area leads directly to the long promenade and the beautiful beach. The main entrance is right on the other side, less than a minute walk to the bus stop with direct connections to Palma and the airport.
This accessibility by public transport also makes Hotel Playa Golf a great place to stay if you are visiting Mallorca without a car.
My Tip: You can even walk from the airport to the Hotel Playa Golf. I do that when I fly with carry-on only. It’s a 20-minute walk from the terminal to the beach at Can Pastilla, and then a 40-minute walk south along the promenade. ⇨ See route and pictures here
Amenities
To be honest, I haven’t had much use for the amenities that are on offer. My Mallorca itinerary is always so packed with hiking and exploring that I don’t spend a lot of time in the hotel. Therefore, I don’t use much of it except for the restaurant.
However, when you’re in Mallorca in the winter, you may have a day with bad weather and rain and the amenities could then matter a lot to you.
So it’s fantastic to have a spa like the one at Hotel Playa Golf. It has a sauna, steam room, hydrotherapy showers, indoor pool and Jacuzzi, and heated loungers in the relaxation area. My husband loved it, as well as the small gym, which he used for a quick workout every morning!
When the weather is nice, there are even 2 outdoor pools where you can relax, one is adults-only. Despite the sunny weather, the water was too cold for me in winter, but there were brave souls who did their laps in the pool every morning. The pool bar was more my area.
I can judge the buffet restaurant much better. The hotel offers a total of 3 restaurants with different ambiances, but I can only speak for the buffet restaurants as I had booked half board for my stays.
There is a wide variety of local and international dishes in the morning and evening, with really is something for everyone. Of course, there are also live cooking stations.
The early opening hours were great for me. I was able to arrive and explore the island’s crowded spots before the masses arrived.
Looking at my hotel room: It had everything I needed. Very modern style bedroom and bathroom with good wifi. I really loved that all rooms have balconies towards the pool and sea.
Value for Money
Let’s be honest: I could or would not want to afford the price of a 4-star hotel like this in summer. But in winter, when you can use all the same amenities for approximately half the price, the Hotel Playa Golf is absolutely worth your money.
My Tip: Include Half Board when booking to even save some more money. In winter, that will save you the time searching for open restaurants as there are not many, even in Playa de Palma. And again: the food is lovely!
Things I did not like about the Hotel Playa Golf
Even though this is my favorite hotel in Mallorca in winter, there are some things that I did not like too much and that I think you should know about, before booking your stay.
Parking
The Hotel Playa Golf does not have its own parking lot. You will have to find street parking if you are exploring the island by car.
This is honestly not a problem in winter as the island is pretty empty, and I always found street parking easily, never more than 1-minute walk from the hotel entrance. But as soon as spring comes, it becomes more difficult.
Group tours due to Hotel Size
Since it is a large hotel, you will have tour groups staying there as well. In the winter time, there are large groups of young people from soccer or tennis clubs practicing on the island.
If you do not book a five-star or adults-only retreat, you will find that situation most likely in other large hotels that are open in the winter in Mallorca as well.
The groups are always out during the day, but for breakfast and dinner times, they can be overwhelming. To avoid the sometimes noisy crowd, you should ask the reception about their dinner time and just come before or after them.
Why I only recommend the Hotel Playa Golf in winter
Let’s get one thing straight: it’s not the Hotel Playa Golf that I do not recommend for summer and peak season – it’s the Playa de Palma area. I’m not a fan of crowds nor a party person.
If you’re up for both the hustle and bustle and the party scene, this area is your playground. Famous bars like Bierkönig and happening nightclubs like Megapark are right at your doorstep when staying at the Hotel Playa Golf!
In winter, most bars and all nightclubs in this area are closed. If you’re more like me – seeking tranquility – consider a different spot during summer.
Oh, and parking? If you decide to stay in the Hotel Playa Golf or that area in peak season, I highly recommend not renting a car but using public transport. Alternatively, be prepared for some annoying parking challenges.
Conclusion
When choosing a hotel in Mallorca for the winter, the Hotel Playa Golf in Playa de Palma is my personal favorite. Especially if you are searching for a place to stay without needing a car, or for a short 4-day or only 3 day stay in the off-season, look no further.

The proximity to Palma and the airport and the location right on the beach is fantastic. When you add in the SPA, your bad weather option, the pools, the delicious food and the modern style rooms, there is not much left to be desired.
For me, the Hotel Playa Golf was always the perfect winter retreat. If you’re looking for a peaceful and affordable getaway in Mallorca this coming off-season, this is the place to be.
