How to spend 7 days in Mallorca

Let’s get to the details! Here comes your 7-day itinerary for your one week Road Trip in Mallorca.

โ‡จ Do not forget to compare car rental rates for Mallorca.
I always use DicoverCars to get the best rates

Scenic view of a white lighthouse at the southernmost point of Mallorca, set against a dramatic backdrop of stormy clouds and a calm sea. The rocky terrain in the foreground contrasts with the smooth, clean lines of the lighthouse, creating a stark and beautiful maritime landscape. This iconic lighthouse is a popular destination for visitors exploring the rugged coastlines of the island.
Most southern point in Mallorca, very hard to reach on a car free itinerary
Linda stands on a rugged hill overlooking a secluded cove on Mallorca's southern coast. The cove features a small, sandy beach surrounded by steep cliffs covered in low vegetation, with the deep blue sea calmly stretching into the distance under a mostly clear sky. This tranquil and picturesque location is ideal for hikers and nature enthusiasts visiting Mallorca.

Day 1: Arrival & St. Elm & Hike to La Trapa

After landing in Mallorca, pick up your rental car and drive to the charming village of Sant Elm, located on the southwest coast of the island. Driving time is approximately 45 minutes.

Drive to Sant Elm

Park your car at your accommodation, in Av. de la Trapa (free but difficult to turn around) or here (paid parking (โ‚ฌ5.00 per day) at the village entrance). I suggest going for a swim and wander through the laid-back streets of St. Elm village after the hike.

Sant Elm – La Trapa Hike

The scenic hike to La Trapa from Sant Elm is part of the long distance trail GR221. It offers stunning views of Dragonera Island and the surrounding sea from the cliffs. Honestly, one of the best hikes in Mallorca!

The trail initially winds through a forest of pines and ancient olive groves, gradually ascending to provide breathtaking panoramas.

Although the path can be challenging, the spectacular coastal views and the historic monastery of La Trapa make it well worth the effort.

On the return journey, you’ll cross the Coll de ses Animes, enjoying views of the coastal mountains before winding back through forest paths to Sant Elm.

Where to stay in Sant Elm

I recommend the PuntBlanc Residences: Quite location at the north end of the village, where the hike to La Trapa starts. Free of charge parking and direct sea access.

If you prefer some more comfort, chose the Universal Hotel Aquamarin, located at the village entrance, right on the beach. It offers renovated and modern rooms, a fitness, and wellness area with indoor pool. No parking!

Day 2: Ma-10 Road Trip via Valdemossa, Deia, Soller

Day 2 of your 7 day Mallorca Road Trip takes you on the MA-10. This spectacular road connects some of the most picturesque villages on the island and a highlight in itsself.

It winds through the Tramuntana mountain range, offering stunning views, breathtaking mountain scenery and a thrilling ride on hairpin bends.

Valldemossa

First stop: Valldemossa. This village is famous for its cobblestone streets and the historic Carthusian monastery where composer Frรฉdรฉric Chopin once stayed.

Visit the monastery to view historic music manuscripts and stroll through the charming gardens. Free parking around the cemetary.

Deiร

Next, head to Deiร , a small coastal village known for its bohemian flair and artistic heritage. Take a stroll around to admire the lush greenery and traditional stone houses that make this village a picturesque stop on your journey โ‡จ free parking.

Sรณller

Continue on to Sรณller, set in a lush valley famous for its orange groves. In the town center, the striking modernist architecture of the Banco de Sรณller and the church of Sant Bartomeu are a must-see. โ‡จ free street parking

โ‡จ Everybody will tell you to take the historic tram from Sรณller to Port de Sรณller. In my opinion it is a complete tourist trap with a price of โ‚ฌ9.00 for that short ride. The train is nice (and free) to look at but I do not recommend the ride.

Port de Sรณller

End your day in Port de Sรณller, relaxing in the beautiful horseshoe bay surrounded by hills. This port is ideal for a leisurely evening, enjoying fresh seafood on the waterfront or indulging in a local ice cream.

Where to stay in Port de Sรณller (2 nights)

I recommend the family-owned Hotel Marina, only 10 m from Platja den Repic beach and the promenade in Port Soller. The 3-Star Hotel offers an exceptionally rich breakfast and dinner, also with regional dishes, an outdoor pool and free parking.

My Tip: For a fabulous sunset and view of Port de Sรณller, drive (or walk) up to the lighthouse Far del Cap Gros. It is a 10 minute drive or 30 minute walk, one way.

Panoramic view of Valldemossa, Mallorca, nestled in a lush valley surrounded by mountains. The historic village is characterized by its cluster of stone buildings with terracotta roofs, interspersed with verdant gardens and narrow paths. Foreground features vibrant flowering bushes, adding a burst of color to the serene, picturesque landscape that is a key part of any Mallorca itinerary.

Linda enjoys the expansive view from a high vantage point above the Bay of Port de Soller, Mallorca. The picturesque harbor is nestled among lush hills and mountains, with the serene Mediterranean Sea embracing the coastline under a partly cloudy sky.
Port de Soller

Day 3: Torrent de Pareis Hike & Sa Caloba Beach

On day 3 of your 7 day Mallorca itinerary, I suggest you explore the impressive Torrent de Pareis canyon.

If you are an experienced hiker, start early by taking the bus to Escorca, where the fantastic Torrent de Pareis hike begins.

The path of this challenging trek takes you through the narrow gorge and boulder-strewn terrain, offering exceptional views of one of Mallorca’s most unique natural formations.

The hike ends where the canyon opens up to the picturesque beach of Sa Calobra. The beach is set between steep cliffs, giving it a secluded atmosphere.

Return to Port de Sรณller by boat, where you can enjoy the coastal views and perhaps a stunning Mediterranean sunset.

For those who find this challenging hike intimidating, you can drive to Sa Calobra beach, which is another adventure in itself.

Alternatively, you can do a boat trip from Port de Sรณller to the beach. From here you can still experience Torrent de Pareis by walking into the canyon as deep as you like.

My TIP if not hiking
A serene river nestled between the towering cliff walls of Torrent de Pareis in Mallorca. Vibrant green shrubbery under a clear blue sky, reflecting a mirror image on the calm water surface.

(1 hour boat ride & free time for exploration)

Where to stay

I recommend staying for a 2nd night at the Hotel Marina in Port de Sรณller.

Day 4: Ma-10 Road Trip via Lluc Monastery to Pollenca

On Day 4 you will continue your journey on the MA-10 towards the spiritual heart of Mallorca. The fantastic mountain raod will pass the beautiful lakes of Cuber and Gorg Blau on your scenic drive.

Lluc Monastery

The monastery of Lluc, beautifully set in the mountains of Escorca, is the most important place of pilgrimage in Mallorca.

It also offers lush gardens and a museum of Mallorcan religious art. Take the short and easy “Path of the Mysteries” to the Calvary, a beautiful viewpoint with a huge cross.

Pollenca

From Lluc, drive to the beautiful town of Pollenรงa, known for its Roman and Moorish influences. Climb the 365 steps, the so-called stairway to heaven, starting in the Pollenca old town for a lovely view over the town.

Another easy but rewarding hike leads up to Puig de Maria. The trail starts just outside the town and offers panoramic views of the surrounding area from the top, where there is also a small hermitage โ‡จ free parking.

Port de Pollenca

Finish your day in Port de Pollenรงa (also known as Puerto Pollensa), a beautiful coastal town ideal for a relaxing evening.

Soak up the town’s relaxed atmosphere with a stroll along the Pine Walk, a picturesque seafront promenade.

Where to stay in Port de Pollenca (2 nights)

I recommend staying at the Hoposa Pollentia – Adults Only. This 4-star boutique hotel is located just 10 meters from a beautiful fine sandy beach and easy walking to the harbour, the village center and many Restaurants.

The serene courtyard of Lluc Monastery in Mallorca, featuring a classic stone fountain in the foreground, surrounded by small palm trees. The large, imposing monastery building looms in the background, with its structured stone facade and uniform windows, under a clear blue sky.

Day 5: Cap Formentor, Alcudia & Talaia d’Alcudia Hike

Day 5 of your 7 day Mallorca itinerary starts with an early rise to visit the stunning Cap Formentor, the northernmost point of Mallorca.

Cap Formentor

It is known for its breathtaking views and dramatic cliffside drives but also for its crowds. If you are an early riser, head out before dawn to catch the sunrise from the famous Mirador Es Colomer viewpoint, which offers panoramic vistas of the rugged coastline and turquoise waters.

Alcudia

Next, make your way to the historic town of Alcรบdia, a gem encased within well-preserved medieval walls. Spend some time exploring the charming streets, the bustling market if itโ€™s market day, and significant sites like the Roman ruins just outside the town walls โ‡จ free parking.

Talaia d’Alcudia hike

Round off your day with a hike to Talaia d’Alcudia, the best viewpoint in the area. Drive to the north of the beautiful coastal village of Bonaire and start from there โ‡จ free parking. First highlight is the former monastery Ermita de la Victรฒria.

The top of Talaia d’Alcudia offers a breathtaking view over the entire north coast of Mallorca, including Cap Formentor, the Badia de Pollenรงa and Badia d’Alcรบdia. On your way down you could include a swim stop at the beautiful Platja des Coll Baix before returning to Bonaire.

Day 6: Arta & Cala Mesquida Hike or Sea Caving

Arta

Day 6 of your week-long Mallorca road trip begins with a visit to Artร , a charming town without the usual crowds โ‡จ free parking.

Take time to stroll through its quaint streets and visit the Sant Salvador Sanctuary for panoramic views.

I just love the relaxed atmosphere in Arta which is a welcome contrast to the more touristy areas of the island.

Cala Agualla – Cala Mesquida hike

After exploring Artร , head to Cala Agulla, north of Cala Rajada, for a scenic hike through some of Mallorca’s most stunning landscapes โ‡จ free but limited street parking.

The trail from Cala Agulla passes by the old watchtower at Talaia de Son Jaumell, offering spectacular views, before arriving at the beautiful sandy Cala Mesquida. The return path is easy and straight through lovely forest paths.

Cala Agualla – Cala Mesquida hike

Sea Caving

Alternatively, if you are looking for something more adventurous, I recommend sea caving and exploring the Cova des Coloms which are close by.

This activity involves swimming and exploring sea caves with impressive formations – an unforgettable and exhilarating experience.

My Tip

Half-Day Caving Trip – Cova des Coloms

Sea caving is a fantastic experience and a little adventure! After a 300m swim into this magical sea cave, you will get to explore it. Just WOW!

Where to stay

For your last night, I recommend staying in Palma de Mallorca. From Cala Rajada it is a 1:15hrs to drive to the islands capitol. Within the city of Palma, you have lots of accommodation options to chose from.

I would recommend choosing a place to stay in the eastern part of Palma, as these areas are closer to the airport. If you stay in the west site of town, you will have to cross.

View overlooking the charming town of Arta in Mallorca, showcasing tightly clustered terracotta-roofed buildings amid lush greenery with a prominent church at the center, under a vibrant blue sky dotted with fluffy white clouds. This picturesque scene captures the essence of a 7 day itinerary Mallorca, offering a glimpse into the tranquil beauty and architectural heritage of the region.

Day 7: Palma & Departure

Palma de Mallorca

On your departure day, spend your time exploring the vibrant capital city of Palma. Start your day with a visit to the iconic La Seu Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture with elements designed by Antoni Gaudรญ.

My Tip: Buy your Skip the line ticket for the Cathedral in advance to safe time and avoid the avoid the long queues.

Stroll through the narrow streets of the historic quarter to discover the lovely shops, cafes and hidden courtyards. Be sure to visit the Palau de l’Almudaina, the royal palace across from the cathedral, which offers a fascinating look at Mallorca’s Moorish and medieval past.

Visit the bustling Placa Major, the main square of the city and sample some local delicacies at Mercat de lโ€™Olivar, Palmaโ€™s oldest food market. An ideal place if you are looking for some souvenirs.

If time permits, enjoy a leisurely walk along the Paseo Marรญtimo, the seafront promenade. Do not forget to get gas when returning your car and to the airport.

Other Highlights to include in your Mallorca itinerary

There are many more highlights that make Mallorca worth visiting and that you can just not fit into one week.

Beautiful beaches and coves: Cala Pi, Calo des Moro & Cala Llombards, all with crystal clear water, perfect for relaxing, swimming and snorkling

Mondrago Natural Park: A coastal area between Cala d’Or and Cala Figuera with grasslands, pine forests, dunes, white sand beaches, ravines, and plenty of birdlife.

Puig de Massanella: A mountain peak in the Tramuntana mountains with panoramic views; accessible only by hiking

Ses Salines: A small village surrounded by several postcard-perfect white-sand beaches like Es Trenc, Cala Mร rmols and Es Caragol

Fornalutx & Biniaraix: 2 very picturesque but also touristy villages in the Tramuntana mountains, near Sรณller

Cuevas del Drach (Drach Caves): One of many Mallorca caves but this cave system has one of the largest underground lakes in the world.

Mallorca Travel Tipps

Best time to visit Mallorca

Mallorca is a fantastic destination all year round. I am a fan of visiting Mallorca in the winter as you have the island to yourself. But keep in mind that in winter many hotels and restaurants are closed in the low season.

Spring (April – June) and autumn (September & October) are also great times to visit as the days are warmer and the weather is more stable.

I do not recommend Mallorca in high season (July and August). Not only is it too hot for hiking, but prices are much higher and the island is absolutely overcrowded.

How many days do you need in Mallorca?

I think a week in Mallorca is just enough time to see the highlights and get an idea what else to put on your list for next time. Especially if you are into hiking and outdoor adventures, there is much more to see and do as you can cover in a 7 days itinerary.

Can you see Mallorca in less days? Sure, but you will need to be a little pickier on what you want to focus on, won’t be able to do as many hikes or just cram in more into each day. I would not visit Mallorca if I had less than 4 days time for the island

Stunning view of Cala Pi, a secluded cove on Mallorca's coastline, featuring crystal-clear turquoise waters bordered by rugged cliffs and lush greenery. The cove is partially hidden by the natural surrounding cliffs, with a few visible buildings nestled atop, enhancing the serene and private feel of this beach destination. This idyllic spot is a highlight for anyone on a 7-day itinerary in Mallorca, perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying the natural beauty.
Cala Pi
The majestic La Seu Cathedral and Almudaina Palace in Palma de Mallorca, viewed across a calm body of water reflecting the grandeur of these historic buildings. The Gothic architecture of the cathedral, with its intricate spires and flying buttresses, dominates the skyline, complemented by the fortified walls of the palace. This iconic view encapsulates the cultural and architectural heritage, making it a must-visit destination on any Mallorca travel itinerary.
Palma de Mallorca

Conclusion

As mentioned before, you can’t see it all in just one week on the island. My 7 day Mallorca itinerary tries to cover a lot of cultural and natural beauty without stressing or offering unrealistic options.

My complete travel guide could hopefully show you that Mallorca has far more than just beautiful beaches. From the historic villages to the scenic trails of the Tramuntana mountains, each day has been packed with adventure and cultural discovery.

Should you change plans and only have time for a quick 3 day trip or need a 4 day Mallorca itinerary, I have got you covered as well.
